The public organization “Territory of Success” held a series of round tables in November-December on the topic “Building Interaction between Local Governments and the Community” in Novoarkhangelsk, Novoukrainsk, Znamensk, Malovyskiv and Dmytrivsk communities, the participants of which were representatives of local government bodies and active citizens.
The main purpose of the meetings was to discuss the possibilities of creating local action plans to increase the level of application of participatory approaches – when community residents take an active part in making important decisions that affect their lives.
Such events are an important step towards establishing effective cooperation between the community and local authorities, which will contribute to the development of territories based on the needs and initiatives of the residents themselves.
The participants developed proposals for the creation of public advisory councils, involving citizens in discussing local budgets, as well as conducting regular public reports by local governments.
Another important result was the increase in participants’ awareness of participation mechanisms and their willingness to actively participate in the decision-making process.
The round tables were held within the framework of the project “Participatory Approach to Community Development in Kirovohrad Oblast”, and we sincerely thank all participants for their active participation and interest!
Representatives of local government emphasized that such round tables are an effective tool for taking into account the needs of residents. Community activists thanked for creating a platform for communication and expressed their desire to continue participating in such events in the future.
The project “Participatory Approach to Community Development in Kirovohrad Oblast” is implemented by the NGO “Territory of Success” within the framework of the USAID project “Democratic Governance in Eastern Ukraine”, which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
